MIMO OFDM Dual-Function Radar-Communication Under Error Rate and Beampattern Constraints

In this work we consider a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) dual-function radar-communication (DFRC) system, which senses multiple spatial directions and serves users. Upon resorting to an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission format differential phase shift keying (DPSK) modulation, study the design of radiated waveforms receive filters employed by radar The approach is communication-centric, in sense that radar-oriented objective optimized under constraints on average transmit power, power leakage towards specific directions, error rate each user, thus safeguarding communication quality service (QoS). We adopt unified allowing broad family objectives, including both estimation- detection-oriented merit functions. devise suboptimal solution based alternating optimization involved variables, convex restriction feasible search set, minorization-maximization, offering single algorithm for all functions considered family. Finally, performance inspected through numerical examples.
